Wandering through the Meeuwenduinen

There is no place on Schouwen-Duiveland where the shifting dunes reveal their many faces as beautifully as in the Meeuwenduinen. A guide from Staatsbosbeheer will take you through this usually closed area; a journey over dune tops, through dune valleys, moss-covered slopes, and along magnificent sand drifts. In the Meeuwenduinen, the sand still drifts in some places as it did a hundred years ago. This vast area showcases all aspects of the original dunes, from the sea ridge to inner dunes, and from wooded areas to open meadows.

Parking is available at the 'Het Groene Duin' parking lot on Adriaan v/d Weijdeweg, accessible via Bosweg, Burgh-Haamstede.
From there, it is a 15-minute walk along the concrete path to the water pumping station, where the guide will meet you.
Wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
