The summer may be coming to an end, but the Harbour Plateau in Bruinisse is set to come alive one more time.

During the BRUzzz Late Summer Festival, everything that makes Zeeland so special comes together: fresh regional products, live cooking, music, art, culture and the unique atmosphere of the harbour.

Stroll through the local market, taste delicacies from the sea, discover local makers and enjoy live performances that continue into the evening. With demonstrations by top chefs, the exciting mussel-opening competition, an arts & culture square and a historic ship in the harbour, there is something to see, hear and experience throughout the day.

During the BRUzzz Late Summer Festival, everything that makes Zeeland so special comes together: fresh regional products, live cooking, music, art, culture and the unique atmosphere of the harbour.

LIVE COOKING

At the BRUzzz Late Summer Festival, you can experience Zeeland’s cuisine up close. Chef Nando van As of Brasserie De Cleenne Mossel will host two live cooking sessions, showcasing how the finest products from Zeeland’s waters are prepared. Highlights include mussels cooked over an open fire by Jacob Quak, traditional smoking of eel and salmon, and barbecue dishes featuring razor clams, oysters and fresh fish.

Dutch Oyster Opening Champion Lotte den Ouden will also be present to demonstrate her impressive skills. And of course, after the demonstrations, you will have the opportunity to sample these delicious seafood specialties yourself.

ARTS & CULTURE SQUARE

At the Arts & Culture Square, you can discover the work of various Zeeland artists and creators. Be inspired by paintings, illustrations, jewellery and other handcrafted creations influenced by Zeeland, the sea and island life.

Artists including Toina Aben, Frans Houkamp, Annie Roggeveen, Elvira Tekent, Jet van Gent, Diana Sijrier and Sieraden uit de Zee will be present. Watch artists at work, ask questions and discover unique creations with a true Zeeland story.

REGIONAL MARKET

Explore the regional market and discover the flavours of Zeeland. Local producers will present their products, ranging from fruit, cheese and mustard to craft beer, wines, ice cream and innovative seaweed-based products.

With participants including Houtekamer Fruit, Schodu Gin, Huub Schapenvachten & Schapenkaas, Mustard Maker Yvonne van Leeuwen, Bruvino, Maris Glow Skincare, Wat Heet Hot Sauces, De Stulp Bier, Tom's Ice Cream, Jan de Koeijer and NEAP Seaweed, there is plenty to discover and taste.

MUSSEL OPENING COMPETITION

Traditions are an important part of Bruinisse, which is why the annual mussel opening competition returns once again. Teams from Bruinisse, Zierikzee and Philippine will compete for the coveted title.

Who can open 20 mussels the fastest and earn the championship title for a year? Come and support your favourite contestant during this spectacular competition.

LIVE MUSIC

Music will fill the Harbour Plateau throughout the day. In the afternoon, Misty & Mellow, Too Many Carpet and Stoeptegel will create a relaxed festival atmosphere by the harbour.

As evening falls, DJ Tabasco, DJ Maarten V, DJ Zino Drum and DJ ReallyRiley will take over. Expect a festive celebration of Zeeland’s late summer with danceable music, live entertainment and plenty of good vibes.

HISTORIC SHIP

During the festival, the impressive Dock Yard III will be moored in the harbour of Bruinisse. This historic vessel provides a beautiful backdrop for a day filled with maritime atmosphere and Zeeland pride.
