MTV Unplugged
In the nineties, MTV launched the “MTV Unplugged” sessions with sensational success. On September 9, 1992, Golden Earring provided the Dutch answer with a semi-acoustic concert in Grand Café De Kroon in Amsterdam. During this unique performance, the Earring played classics such as Back Home, Another 45 Miles, Radar Love, Twilight Zone, When The Lady Smiles, Going To The Run and many other hits. The live session was recorded, and the Earring's first unplugged album, “The Naked Truth,” became a reality.

After more than 60 years, the music of Golden Earring is still very popular with a wide audience. The Naked Truth At the end of 2018, Roland and Robbert Paul founded the band The Naked Truth. What began as a semi-acoustic excursion has grown into a full-fledged theatre and festival show and a tribute to the best rock band in the Netherlands.

Under the name 'The Naked Truth,' Roland, Robbert Paul, Robert-Jan, and Johan play the Earring's greatest hits.

The band's shows are well attended, and the audience reactions are overwhelming; venues are therefore regularly sold out. Festival organisations have also discovered the band and its unique live show. A live recording of a number of shows was made by a VPRO camera crew; a short video on the website www.thenakedtruth.nl clearly shows what the gentlemen are capable of.

The Naked Truth consists of 4 seasoned musicians who have amply earned their spurs in the (international) pop circuit. With singer-guitarist Roland Brons, lead guitarist Robbert Paul Verkade, complemented by the experienced rhythm tandem Robert Jan Kimmijser on drums and Johan Maring on bass, the band is rock solid. The love for the Dutch pop and rock scene and Golden Earring brought the gentlemen together in their passion for music and live performance. This band should certainly not be missing from the programming of many a festival and theatre. The Naked Truth treats the audience to a fantastic live show with the well-known Golden Earring hits and takes you on a musical journey through time.
