Zierikzee is home to a wealth of monuments and ranks in the top 10 of Dutch heritage cities. Over 500 national monuments are officially registered. In the city’s skyline, landmarks such as the Dikke Toren, the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), the old Town Hall with its copper Neptune weathervane, the Gasthuiskerk and three city gates stand tall.
It’s no surprise that the route follows the central axis of the city, from the Dikke Toren through the historic centre, past the Havenplein and the Old Harbour to the North and South Harbour Gates. There are also detours to the Nobelpoort and the Nieuwe Haven.
The walk takes you through the low-traffic city centre and is suitable for strollers and wheelchair users.
