Burgh-Haamstede consists of five cores: Westenschouwen, Burghsluis, Haamstede, Burgh, and Nieuw-Haamstede. Each core has its own character. Westenschouwen serves as the gateway to the beach through the stairs and the forest called "de Domeinen," which was established in the 1920s. Burgh is safely hidden behind the Meeuwenduinen. In the village, you can find a market plaza and a museum located in an old school. The museum tells the story of the ringwalburg. Haamstede has a bustling center with Slot Haamstede as its crown. From the castle, you can easily access nature. Burghsluis, located on the Oosterschelde, has a marina and is situated near the Plompe Tower. Nieuw-Haamstede is built around the Westerlicht lighthouse. Multiple walking routes through the dunes towards the North Sea beach start from the avenues lined with villas. At the end of these paths, you won't find beach pavilions but rather the tranquility of water and seagulls. The longest and perhaps the most beautiful walking route is the one through the Meeuwen- en Zeepeduinen. Note: This walking route is closed during the breeding season.
