The Pro Work Knowledge Center Foundation was established in 2007 by Theo Grefkens. Daughter Tessa wasn't initially planning to join the organization, but eventually found herself drawn into it and officially took over the reins in 2020. But what does Pro Work actually do? Tessa explains, 'We carry out projects for individuals facing barriers to employment and/or society, with a particular focus on career development. We assist them in finding new jobs and/or training to acquire the competencies needed to secure those jobs.' The core team consists of five individuals, with a flexible pool of employees brought in when specific expertise is required in certain areas. 'We aim to reconcile innovation with aspects like career development and education.' Pro Work aims to connect the lines established within its network and shape this on a European level. 'We can channel our enthusiasm and creativity into this, which I believe is where our strengths lie. It's quite unique in a place like Burgh-Haamstede to set up such beautiful international collaborations.' The target audiences and objectives vary. However, self-empowerment of diverse groups is the foundation of projects at Pro Work. 'The path we've taken, with projects related to social responsibility, is something I'd like to continue. I enjoy crafting projects around things that are in the news or current events. If we can contribute to something that's needed in society, it brings us great satisfaction. You feel like you're making an impact on people's lives, and that's wonderful.
