Galerie Haamstede

If you see the door open and the green chair on the sidewalk, you'll know: Galerie Haamstede is open. Actually, you just have to step inside, because there's always something different to see here. Galerie Haamstede by Petra van Gent and her partner Alfred Kiel is an accessible gallery where you'll find contemporary art. The collection is tailored to the audience visiting the gallery. As Petra herself says: 'Friendly work suitable for a wide audience. We look at quality, but also at price.' In the gallery, you'll mainly find paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and even jewelry. About twenty artists - ranging from well-known professionals to newcomers - showcase their work here. Petra also creates her own work, mostly of the cheerful kind. Workshops are regularly held at the back of the gallery. Sometimes by Petra herself, sometimes by one of the exhibiting artists. It creates a lively atmosphere in the space. 'We've been doing this for 18 years, and it's still incredibly enjoyable. We have fun and experience all sorts of things. So many different people come in, sometimes even sharing their entire life stories with us.
