For a very long time, artisanal bread, "bolus" pastries, and other delicious treats have been baked at Sonnemans Bakery. However, those "bolus" pastries are truly the main attraction. Mathieu says, "The bakery has been around since 1917, but it wasn't until the 1970s that it was taken over by the Sonnemans family. Nowadays, my wife Dorothé and I run the business together with our three children, Rolf, Romy, and Amber." At the bakery, you can not only buy the tastiest bread and pastries to take home, but you can also enjoy the terrace with a drink. Since the summer of 2021, the Sonnemans family has opened a hotel behind the bakery. Reflecting the bakery's style, it has been tastefully designed by Dorothé. It was aptly named Hotel Bij de Bakker (Hotel by the Baker). So now you can also sleep at the bakery. "Which is quite convenient for breakfast, as it arrives fresh on the table. Finally, there's another unique passion the Sonnemans family is known for: their collection of items from World War II. These are displayed in the mini museum of the hotel.
