Elkerzee

Elkerzee was once a village with a church, school, and shops. Mentioned as Hildchereshe in 1156, later Elegarsee and Elcherzee. After severe damage from the North Sea Flood of 1953, the church was demolished. What remains is a hamlet with a rich history.

Naterstreek

De Naterstreek is an important nature reserve for various birds. Throughout the year, you can enjoy the large bird diversity here. Especially in spring and summer, you can spot spoonbills, marsh harriers, and geese here.

Sint-Lievensmonstertoren ''De Dikke Toren''

Visit the impressive Sint-Lievensmonstertoren, better known as "De Dikke Toren" (The Fat Tower) located in the charming city of Zierikzee.

Prunjehil

Brijdorpe

Brijdorpe is a small hamlet first mentioned in 1232. The name refers to the word brij, meaning the muddy, wet soil on which it was built, typical of the Zeeland landscape at the time.

De Slikken van Dijkwater

The Slikken van Dijkwater is a protected bird reserve on Schouwen-Duiveland, known for its unique flora such as rare glasswort. The area is not accessible to the public but provides a peaceful refuge for numerous native bird species.

Viane

Right on the edge of the Oosterschelde lies the former hamlet of Viane. Farmers used to bring the beets by horse and cart to the harbour, where they were weighed and transported by ship to destinations such as Dinteloord.

Slot Haamstede

Molen De Lelie Scharendijke

Visit Molen De Lelie in Scharendijke, a historic corn mill from 1868 with stunning views, a restaurant, and a mill shop. Taste delicious dishes and local delicacies, and buy flour and other regional products.

Noordwelle

Noordwelle is a charming ring village with around 300 inhabitants. Peaceful and full of character, but full of energy during the annual Kunstschouw art route on the head of Schouwen.
